As technology continues to transform the world, the Howell Data Center Project represents a chance for our community to grow responsibly. It’s more than servers or systems. It’s an investment in good jobs, stronger schools, and a more resilient local economy.
Like past generations who welcomed electricity, railroads, and modern infrastructure, we stand at the start of a new chapter. Change can feel uncertain, but when guided by transparency, partnership, and respect, it becomes a tool for empowerment. Not disruption.
This project is being built with the same care and thoughtfulness that Livingston County is known for. Together, we can make sure that progress reflects our shared values, supports our families, and strengthens our home for years to come.
The Howell Data Center Project is thoughtfully planned across several parcels east of Handy Township, spanning areas along Marr Road, Fleming Road, Warner Road, and Owosso Road. The land, currently zoned as AR (Agricultural Residential), SFR (Single Family Residential), and NSC (Neighborhood Service Commercial), would be responsibly rezoned to RT – Research and Technology to support the county’s long-term vision for innovation and sustainable economic growth.
Centered among 950 acres, the Howell Data Center represents the largest private investment in Livingston County's history; positioning a Fortune 100 company as the area’s largest taxpayer. This partnership would help expand the local tax base, creating new opportunities to fund schools, infrastructure, and essential community services.
At its core, a data center is a place that houses the servers powering our everyday online lives. Processing, storing, and protecting the digital information that keeps businesses, families, and communities connected.
The Howell Data Center Project is designed with a deep respect for the land and community it will call home. Developers plan to prioritize water efficiency through new technologies and reuse systems that capture and recycle water before discharge. These efforts help reduce impact on natural resources while ensuring they’re used wisely. A reflection of the same care for the land and surroundings that Livingston County residents have always valued.
The company is committed to supporting the foundation of the community, including local programs and initiatives that help families, students, and neighborhoods thrive. Through ongoing partnership and engagement, the goal is to strengthen opportunities that reflect the values and priorities of Livingston County — helping the community grow in ways that are both meaningful and lasting.
Fire, police, and EMS will have more funding for staff, equipment, and training. That means faster response times and safer neighborhoods.
This revenue replaces the need for future tax increases. It takes pressure off families while still funding critical services.
Data centers rely on cutting-edge internet and power. It has been shown that data centers cause increased grid reliability and improvements to broadband infrastructure for the surrounding community. Faster, more reliable internet helps families, schools, and small businesses thrive.
More jobs mean more business for local restaurants, shops, and trades, helping to build a stronger economy that encourages young families to stay and grow here. Each permanent job at the data center supports several additional on-site roles, creating steady employment and expanding opportunities right here in our community.
A U.S. founded and based Fortune 100 company will develop, own, and operate the new data center here in Livingston County. This project isn’t about generating profits. It’s about strengthening the backbone of the technology millions of Americans use every day. After consulting with partners who have worked with this group on similar developments, local property owners chose them not for the highest bid, but because they’ve proven themselves to be responsible, community-minded neighbors. With a focus on long-term growth, responsible development, and collaboration, this company is committed to becoming a valued member of Livingston County for decades to come.
